Anchor Bay Entertainment today
announced that the successful sci-fi action comedy Lazer Team will be released on DVD August 2, 2016.
From the creators of the highly popular award-winning animated web
series “Red vs. Blue,” the film marks the feature film debut for
pioneering
entertainment company Rooster Teeth, whose YouTube network boasts more
than 25 million subscribers. As one of the biggest crowd-funded films in
history with donations of over $2.4 million in 30 days,
Lazer Team is an enjoyably fun slapstick superhero adventure.
Directed by Matt Hullum and written by Burnie Burns, Chris Demarais, Joshua Flanagan, and Matt Hullum,
Lazer Team stars Burnie Burns (“The Amazing Race,” “Red
vs. Blue,”), Gavin Free (“The Slow Mo Guys”), Michael Jones (“RWBY”),
Colton Dunn (“Superstore,” “Key and Peele,”), Allie DeBerry (“A.N.T.
Farm”), and features Alan Ritchson (“Blue Mountain
State,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”).
When
four small-town losers stumble across an alien crash site containing an
incredible battle suit, they soon find themselves responsible for
the fate of the entire planet. With this new alien equipment
genetically bound to them, and the government hot on their heels, the
foursome have no choice but to work together as one to save humanity.
All they have to do is learn to use a strange alien device
meant for only one person, train for a battle against an omnipotent
enemy, and not kill each other in the process. They may not be strong,
smart, or talented... but they’re Lazer Team.
The
film made its debut at Fantastic Fest in September 2015 followed by a
run at Toronto After Dark. It was released theatrically on January 27,
2016 before becoming available on SVOD as a launch title for YouTube
Red on February 10, 2016.
Lazer Team will be headed to DVD from Anchor Bay Entertainment
on August 2, 2016 Special features include deleted and extended scenes, bloopers, and VFX breakdown.
